The award-winning British artist Adele has been officially confirmed as the singer of the main theme song for ‘Skyfall’.

The new theme song for the 23rd James Bond movie will be released via Adele’s official website on Friday October 5, the fiftieth anniversary day of the release of ‘Dr. No’. Appropriately, October 5 is also the official Global James Bond Day.

In an official press release issued to the media on October 1, it was revealed that Adele read the script for the film and then enlisted the help of Paul Epworth to co-write and produce the theme song.

Adele commented: ‘I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end’.

Adele added: ‘It was a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I’ve never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life’.

The theme song by Adele was recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, and a 77-piece orchestra was involved.
