There has been some official news on the upcoming new James Bond film. In a brief update from EON, placed on their official website on 15th February, it was announced that the release date for Bond 25 has been changed to a new, slightly delayed date: 8th April, 2020.

EON’s post stated that the release date for Bond 25 ‘has changed’ and that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli ‘are absolutely thrilled’ to be releasing Bond 25 on 8th April, 2020. No further details were provided.

However, it has also emerged from independent sources that a new writer, Scott Z. Burns, has been brought in to conduct further work on the Bond 25 shooting script.

Scott Burns has previously worked on films such as The Bourne Ultimatum, Ocean’s 12, Contagion, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and the upcoming Laundromat, among others, and apparently agreed to undertake four weeks work on the shooting script for Bond 25.

Burns, born in 1962, has worn a number of hats during his highly successful career in the movie business: he has been a screen-writer, director and producer. He was, for example, one of the producers of the Academy Award-winning An Inconvenient Truth. He has a reputation for being a ‘safe pair of hands’ when it comes to sprucing up movie scripts, and it is reported that the Bond producers had been interested in using him as soon as he became available from his latest project.

Watch this space for further developments as they happen. You know the name, and you know the number.
