Will it be 003 for 007? In a brief but intriguing report, a British red-top tabloid newspaper, the Daily Mirror, has claimed that the ending of the new 007 adventure No Time To Die is ‘so top secret’ that even James Bond star Daniel Craig ‘doesn’t know what happens’.

The newspaper carried what it alleged was an ‘exclusive’ report on 22nd October (entitled ‘For his eyes only’), suggesting that No Time To Die director Cary Joji Fukunaga has shot no less than three different versions of the ending of the new movie, and ‘only he knows’ which one will be used in the final cut.

According to the Mirror’s showbiz editor Tom Bryant, ‘insiders’ say Fukunaga wants to avoid the climax of the film leaking out (the film is released on 3rd April, 2020, in the UK). Bryant then changed from the plural and cited just one ‘insider’, who apparently claimed: ‘Everyone’s in the dark, the secrecy is off the chart’.

In a notable mish-mash of a report, Bryant’s exclusive then went on to reproduce brief bits from the official synopsis, released by EON at the time of the Jamaica press-call held just prior to the start of main filming.

Bryant also had a spoiler in his report, too (which we will not reproduce here). Make of all this what you will. But do bear in mind the British tabloid press are notoriously unreliable. On the other hand, there could very well be something in this: it would certainly be a smart move on Fukunaga’s part to try and keep Bond fans and others guessing about how the 25th film in the franchise will end, especially as it could be Craig’s final outing as Ian Fleming’s iconic secret agent. If Fukunaga can pull it off, the intrigue over the story’s ending will help boost all the publicity and interest in the new film. And that can only be a good thing!
